Matsuzaka no longer inspires confidence... I don't trust him at this point at all. He is struggling big time and he's been lit up on a daily basis lately.
I think American batters are too powerful for him.
Give DiceK time!!! The guy is still in a transition from Japan to MLB, which means more powerful hitters, different mechanics, and a heavier ball. He won't be a Pedro Martinez this year, it was common knowledge that he'd have a couple cold streaks. He'll snap out of it sometime... don't stick the nail in him yet.
He's just lost confidence in his offspeed pitches for some reason. This could be due to a lot of different factors. Physical difference in the american baseball, Varitek's pitch selection, bad BABIP luck, you name it. That's all moot anyway, what matters is he's got to get it back. He threw 1 curveball, 2 changeups and 0 splitters this past game against Baltimore. He was just FB, cutter and slider. What makes him such a force is his wide array of pitches. If he gets back to using all of them a bit more, then we should see marked improvement.

So far so good for the Dice-Man! Go Sox!
2.2 IP
6 hits
3 walks
8 runs
2 Ks
At least you got the hits right.
Wow,
As an American Fan of Daisuke I am conceerned as to his recent performances. Especially today against the Orioles.
I'm just wondering, what is throwing Dice-K off his routine and success that he used to have in Japan?
The longer season than the Japanese league? A possible unmentioned injury?
Maybe Dice-K isn't mixing his pitches as he should? Lack of confidence?
Perhaps Dice-K is letting pressure of trying to excel in MLB finally wearing him down?
Anyone here got ideas and comments?
And thanks to Mike for his great blog, as a Red Sox fan curious about Dice-K it is appreciated!

American hitters are too powerful for Dice-K. That's it.
fear Scotty Moore, Matsusaka-san.
Dice-K is suck. I think that's the problem.
What a joke! Dice-K
Dice K is the worst pitcher in the MLB right now.
